Clemson Beats SEC Powers for Massive 4-Star Commitment

The rich keep getting richer on the recruiting trail. Clemson Tigers landed another major piece for its 2027 class when four-star offensive tackle JJ Brown announced his commitment, choosing Clemson over powerhouse programs including Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Florida State Seminoles, and Auburn Tigers.

Brown, a 6-foot-6, 305-pound standout from Georgia, becomes the 17th commitment in Clemson’s 2027 recruiting class. His decision is particularly impressive because the Tigers pulled him away from in-state Georgia, a program that rarely loses elite homegrown talent.

The highly regarded tackle cited Clemson’s culture as the biggest factor in his decision. Brown praised head coach Dabo Swinney for building a family atmosphere that extends beyond a player’s college career, saying the program’s commitment to its athletes stood out from the competition.

Another major factor was offensive line coach Matt Luke. Brown believes Luke’s proven track record of developing NFL-caliber linemen can help him reach his ultimate goal of becoming a first-round draft pick. Recent success stories and Luke’s reputation for player development gave Clemson a significant advantage in the recruiting battle.

Brown is now the latest addition to a rapidly growing offensive line haul for the Tigers. Clemson has made trench play a major recruiting priority, and the commitment further strengthens a class that continues to climb national rankings while positioning the program for long-term success.

With Brown on board, Clemson now owns one of the ACC’s strongest recruiting classes and continues to prove it can go head-to-head with SEC giants for elite talent. Winning a battle against programs like Georgia, Florida, and Auburn sends a strong message that Swinney and his staff remain major players on the national recruiting stage.
