The University of Kentucky has officially ushered in a new era of athletics with the hiring of J Batt as its next athletic director.
Batt will take over leadership of the Wildcats’ athletic department following the retirement of longtime AD Mitch Barnhart on June 30. As excitement builds around the transition, Kentucky head coaches have already voiced their support for the school’s newest leader.

Men’s basketball coach Mark Pope shared his enthusiasm after meeting with Batt and fellow UK coaches, expressing confidence in the direction of the program. Pope welcomed Batt and his family to Lexington and said he believes the new athletic director is poised to make a significant impact on Kentucky athletics.
Football coach Will Stein also publicly welcomed Batt, releasing a video message praising the new AD and highlighting the opportunities ahead for the university, the community, and the entire state of Kentucky.

Batt arrives in Lexington with a strong reputation as one of college athletics’ most successful fundraisers. His track record and experience have generated optimism among Kentucky fans, many of whom view him as the right person to guide the Wildcats through the rapidly changing landscape of collegiate sports.

With support already pouring in from key figures across the athletic department, Batt’s tenure is off to a promising start as Kentucky looks toward its next chapter.
