A mother and her teenage daughter are believed to have died in a light plane crash on an Angel Flight at Mount Gambier in South Australia.
The national charity helps people living in the country access specialist medical treatment.
The plane crashed into a paddock at around 10.30am.
The accident scene is in the vicinity of Sunnybrae and Walker Roads at Suttontown, about 5km from Mount Gambier airport.
9NEWS understands the french made TB-10 Tobago was being flown by its owner Grant Gilbert, 78, at the time of the crash.
It is believed the 43-year-old woman and her 16-year-old daughter from Mount Gambier were also on board the plane en route to Adelaide.
Mr Gilbert has been described as a passionate volunteer for Angel Flight, which provides free flights for sick people and their families who need to travel into the city for medical appointments.
He is understood to have flown at least 200 volunteer flights.
The area has now been cordoned off, as police major crash officers continue their investigations into the night.
Four investigators from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau are expected to spend at least two days examining the scene to try and determine the cause of the crash.
One factor the investigators will examine is the weather.
It is believed at least one commercial flight was diverted from the area as the emergency unfolded.
