
2 teens dead, 2 others injured in rollover crash in Hardin County. What we know
Two people are dead and two are injured after a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Elizabethtown, Hardin County Chief Deputy Sheriff David Lee said Sunday.
Around 2:20 a.m., deputies with the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 3700 block of St. John Road on a report of an injury crash, according to a news release from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies determined in a preliminary investigation that the driver of the vehicle, later identified as 17-year-old Gerald M. Lyons of Eastview, was traveling eastbound when he lost control. The vehicle exited the roadway on the left shoulder and rolled multiple times.
Lyons and a front seat passenger, 16-year-old Tristen A. Shrouder of Elizabethtown, were both ejected from the vehicle. Schrouder was pronounced dead at the scene and Lyons was taken to Baptist Health Hardin for treatment of his injuries. Lyons was later airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:43 p.m. Saturday, according to a release from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office. Lyons’ cause of death was reported to be from “multiple blunt force injuries.
