
One of the drivers involved in the street race was taken into custody.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A teenager is dead and two others are injured after a street race ended in a multi-car crash and sent another car into a home in Antioch, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Nashville PD reported that an Infiniti M37 was racing another vehicle when officers attempted to intervene and shut down the reckless driving. The Infiniti drove off, and the officers decided not to pursue, according to the report.
The 18-year-old male driver later lost control and crashed into a mailbox, then a parked van and a light pole before ultimately slamming into a home on Anderson Road around 9 p.m.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while his two 17-year-old passengers were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. One of them is listed in critical condition, according to Nashville PD’s report. Neither was wearing a seat belt.
Toxicology tests are underway to determine if the driver was impaired during the incident.
The other car involved in the race was involved in a separate crash on Anderson Road and Kindwood Drive with two other vehicles. The driver of that vehicle was reportedly underage and arrested. No major injuries were reported in that crash,
