Burnley’s search for a new manager has hit another wall after Rob Edwards reportedly turned down an approach from the Championship club. The former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss is the latest target to slip through the Clarets’ fingers as they continue their hunt for Scott Parker’s replacement.
Burnley have been without a head coach since Scott Parker left the club at the end of April, and almost two months on, they are yet to make an appointment. The situation has grown increasingly frustrating for supporters and players alike, with pre-season already underway at Turf Moor.

The club had initially hoped to bring in Craig Bellamy, but that move fell through after he was unable to bring in the coaching staff he wanted with Bellamy since returning to his role as Wales national team manager. Burnley then turned their attention to Edwards as an alternative option.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Burnley made a formal approach to Edwards but he has rejected the Clarets opting not to rush back into management so soon after a turbulent exit from Wolves. Talk SPORT reporter Alex Crook also confirmed that Burnley had failed with their approach to the former Luton Town boss.

Edwards was controversially sacked by Wolves just weeks ago in circumstances that left players and staff blindsided with many unhappy at how the decision was handled. Wolves have since moved on by hiring Cesar Peixoto as his replacement.
Burnley now risk falling behind their Championship rivals as they head into the new season without a manager in place, with their opening fixture against West Ham on August 16 fast approaching. Robin van Persie and Steve Cooper remain among the other names being considered for the role.
