Broncos End the Speculation with Thrilling Double Signing Reveal
While it had long been an open secret within the rugby league circles, the club has now officially announced the signing of Melbourne Storm outside back Grant Anderson on a two-year deal covering the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
Anderson, who brings with him more than 35 games of top-tier experience, will bolster the club’s depth in the outside backs — a timely addition as Selwyn Cobbo prepares to exit at the close of the current campaign.
Able to play at fullback, on the wing or in the centres, Anderson has scored ten tries in 12 matches this season, whilst averaging an impressive 142 running metres per game.
“Grant is a great footballer with a proven ability at NRL level, and we’re confident he’ll be a valuable addition to the Broncos both on and off the field,” Broncos GM of Football Troy Thomson said in a statement.
“He’s been in excellent form and continues to show that he’s not only dependable, but also highly versatile across the backline.
The Broncos have confirmed that Josiah Karapani has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club through the end of the 2027 season.
Karapani joined the Broncos at the beginning of 2023 following a spell with the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Since then, he has served as a reliable depth option in the outside backs and recently impressed by scoring four tries across his last two appearances, stepping up in place of the sidelined Selwyn Cobbo.
At just 23 years old, Karapani has plenty of potential ahead and has already demonstrated flashes of talent playing both in the centres and on the wing.
“My family have noticed a huge change in me—how I carry myself, how I prepare—and that’s thanks to the support and guidance from the coaching staff,” Karapani shared.
“I really value the bond within the team, the club culture, and how quickly I’ve built strong relationships with the boys.
“The fans also make a big difference—the energy at Suncorp Stadium is incredible.
“I’m gradually settling into my role here… and I’m driven to become more competitive and push toward the ultimate goal: winning a premiership.”
