Body found after boat sinks on Percy Priest Lake

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man has been indicted for his connection to a kayaker’s death on Percy Priest Lake in 2023, according to court documents.

 

Several agencies responded to Percy Priest Lake on April 29, 2023 for reports of a “boating incident.”

Officials said a boat with three occupants hit a solo kayaker near the Hamilton Creek boat ramp, but the kayaker did not resurface.

 

The kayaker was later recovered and identified as 24-year-old Jaida Lindsay of Murfreesboro.

 

Detectives attempted to serve a warrant to Walter Colson on Thursday, May 9. As they were explaining the situation to him, he allegedly told them, “I’m not going with you today.”

 

An arrest report states Colson pulled his arm away from a detective, puffed out his chest, and moved as if he going to hit the detective with tools that were in his hands.

Colson was then placed in handcuffs and taken into custody without further incident, officials said.

According to the indictment, Colson was charged with reckless vehicular homicide, reckless aggravated assault, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, and reckless boating resulting in death.
