This summer, James has drawn a lot of interest from various European clubs. The Ligue 1 team reportedly launched an £8 million proposal for the Welsh midfield player, and Rennes appears to be getting closer to acquiring him. Birmingham earlier turned down a £4 million bid from Serie A team Atalanta during the winter transfer window.
The 20-year-old made his first-team debut in the 2021–2022 season after rising through the Birmingham academy. According to Transfermarkt, James has subsequently made over 100 appearances for the Blues and scored 10 goals. According to recent allegations from the Mirror, Jones’ League One team is prepared to sell him to a suitor from Europe. The Midlands team will ultimately use the proceeds from the deal to pursue Stansfield out of Fulham permanently.
The youthful midfielder was on loan at St Andrews for the previous campaign.
