Brandon Thomas-Asante of West Brom was the target of a £2 million bid from Leeds United at the tail end of August as Daniel Farke looked to bolster his team.

We are now past the transfer window, when Leeds’ week came to an abrupt end, and we are looking forward to a week off from Championship action due to the international break.

Although a significant departure was the main talking point, Leeds was able to complete a number of additions in the remaining days of the transfer window.

Attempts to sign Brandon Thomas-Asante by Leeds?

Brandon Thomas-Asante, a striker for West Brom, has made an impression since moving from League Two to the Championship last summer. He scored seven league goals the previous season and is off to a good start this year with two goals in his first four games.

One of his goals was scored at Elland Road, where a Jayson Molumby effort was deflected into the net by the 24-year-old’s extended arm and was upheld by the referee.

Late in the transfer window, Stoke City put in a $2 million bid to acquire the forward, but it has since been revealed by ITV reporter Simon Watts, who covered the match on their weekend EFL highlights, that Leeds did the same:

Brandon Thomas-Asante “showed his value to the team with a perfect ball to John Swift to equalise (vs. Huddersfield Town) last week after the Baggies turned down some pretty cheeky £2 million bids from Stoke and Leeds for him.”

Although a number 10 was more the type of player we needed in the assault than Thomas-Asante, he would have added depth.

We don’t appear to have a classic number nine to lead the charge in the Championship with Georginio Rutter up top.

If we are still interested in Thomas-Asante in January, it would be worthwhile to look at him, and the Baggies may even consider making a bid.
