There has reportedly been a key power shift inside the Denver Broncs that is expected to heavily dictate how the organization approaches the NFL trade deadline on Oct. 31.

This is going to be an interesting next couple of weeks for the Denver Broncos. At 1-5 and in last place in the AFC West, the team seems headed for another losing season despite adding Sean Payton as head coach. That is why the shared belief around the league is that this roster needs to be dismantled further to a group that better fits their head coach.

With the Halloween trade deadline closing in, there has been a lot of speculation about who the team could move during an expected fire sale before the deadline. Some believe they could sell off building block talents like Patrick Surtain II while others feel he is seen as an untradeable commodity at the Denver offices.

Sean Payton reportedly has all ‘the juice’ inside Denver Broncos organization

On Wednesday, Bleacher Report NFL insider Jordan Schultz attempted to bring some clarity to the situation by revealing some interesting news on who will really be guiding the ship before the deadline.

“Sean Payton may be the head coach, George Paton may be the GM, but the balance of power has shifted in that organization to Sean Payton,” Schultz claimed. “He’s got the juice right now. And whether or not you think that’s a good thing, that’s how it is. So understand that, and then you can understand the framework in terms of how Denver’s going to operate at this trade deadline.”

It will be very interesting to see what the team does and if Payton looks to move some of the key players Paton brought in since taking over the general manager position in 2021. It wouldn’t be surprising if they were more conservative at the deadline and the head coach felt many of their players deserve to be back in 2024 either.
