With a last-minute acquisition of the Bournemouth winger, Leeds United wrapped up their summer transfers.

HIGHLIGHTS

  •  Because of the circumstances surrounding the loss of Luis Sinisterra on deadline day, Leeds United supporters are confident about the arrival of Jaidon Anthony.
  •  Anthony is regarded as a top-tier winger in the Championship who adds more creativity and a dual threat out wide.
  •  Although he will have competition from other high-caliber players on the club, Leeds’ offensive style of play will depend on his ability to provide both creative and goal-scoring contributions.
  • The last Leeds player to depart Elland Road this summer was Luis Sinisterra, but the Yorkshire team did not leave empty-handed.

As the Colombian international moved to Bournemouth, Jaidon Anthony was signed in the waning moments of the deadline day.

The 23-year-old winger signs a loan deal for the entire 2018–19 campaign, making his way back to the Championship after winning promotion with the Cherries in 2021/22.

The academy graduate made his debut that year, playing 45 times in his first season and contributing six assists in addition to eight goals.

After going on to make 33 Premier League games to show off his brilliance, Anthony is now gearing up for another competitive Championship season.

What do Leeds United supporters think of Jaidon Anthony?

Anthony’s decision was fairly anticipated given the chaos that surrounds transfer deadline day.

However, FLW’s Leeds United fan analyst Kris Smith is upbeat about the deal and believes the Whites would benefit from having more innovation within their ranks.

Speaking to Football League World, he said: “To come away with Jaidon Anthony as part of that transaction is simply excellent business, given that we were losing Sinisterra in the waning seconds of deadline day.

“The club has done incredibly well in discussions throughout the summer considering the conditions of how many players we’ve left on loan and the limited amount of money coming in. To see another guy depart on loan and bring in a top-tier Championship winger in return is really good.

With Anthony in particular, I believe we’re getting a player who hasn’t been injured very often, bless his heart with our luck, and who also displayed excellent skills cutting inside and going the other way, reaching the byline, giving him a double threat out wide, especially when the full back is overlapping.

Considering how much upheaval there was when Sinisterra left, I believe it will go unnoticed, but he is a fantastic addition.

What rivalry does Jaidon Anthony deal with?

Although it will be noticeable that wingers Luis Sinisterra and Jack Harrison are moving on to Premier League clubs, Leeds still has excellent options at this level.

For the opening weekend match against Cardiff City, Daniel James and Crysencio Summerville completed the attacking quartet on either side. For the subsequent matches, Jamie Shackleton was used on the right side in place of Crysencio Summerville, who had to withdraw due to injury.

Summerville has since resumed play, and youthful sensation Wilfried Gnonto has returned to the lineup after a deal to Everton fell through. Gnonto has subsequently taken off despite disagreements last month behind the scenes.

The young Italian player showed the boss he was worthy of his trust by scoring on his comeback against Ipswich in a seven-goal thriller in which the Yorkshire team prevailed.

Leeds will need Jaidon Anthony on both a creative and goalscoring front as they revert to their former offensive ways because the team’s goals have been evenly distributed thus far, with nobody scoring more than one.

In order to quickly return to the top flight, the Bournemouth loanee will try to supply players like Patrick Bamford, Jol Piroe, and Georginio Rutter.
