Alasdair Gold is certain that Tottenham Hotspur will look at signing Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth during the January transfer window.

The Athletic claimed on transfer deadline day this summer that Bournemouth had rejected a £20 million approach from Spurs for Kelly.

According to the report, the Cherries were hesitant to allow the defender to depart so late in the window because they were unable to find a suitable replacement in time.

Since then, a number of sources—including Matt Barlow of the Daily Mail—have asserted that Tottenham would rekindle their interest in the 24-year-old in January when the transfer window reopens.
Football Insider claimed earlier this month that the South Coast club could have to sell the center-back for a steep discount because his contract with the organization expires next summer and he hasn’t showed any desire to sign a new one.

Soon, Spurs will resume their search for a center-back.

Ange Postecoglou’s team may potentially test the waters once more for Kelly, according to Gold, who also mentioned that they would rekindle their pursuit of Tosin Adarabioyo of Fulham.

In a Q&A on Football.London, the writer stated: “Kelly will unquestionably be one of the defenders they look at. When I questioned Postecoglou after the window closed, he made it plain that he was now lacking at center-back.

“Kelly’s contract situation, with just nine months or so left on his deal, marks him out as a good homegrown option for a mid-season swoop and he fits Postecoglou’s system. Tosin Adarabioyo will also be in the same contract situation if nothing new is signed.”

Signing a centre-back will undoubtedly be Ange’s number one priority and we know that both Kelly and Adarabioyo rank quite highly on the club’s wishlist. Spurs could potentially look to bring two centre-backs through the door if they manage to offload Dier.
