With five games remaining, the Eagles have shuffled their practice squad and 53-man roster to make certain position groups stronger. On Wednesday, Philadelphia re-signed offensive lineman Brett Toth to its practice squad and released former Alabama center Ross Pierschbacher.

This will be Toth’s third stint with the organization. In 2019, he signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent. After getting waived at the end of training camp, the Arizona Cardinals claimed the Army product. Nearly a year later, Toth returned to the Eagles via waivers.

Toth started one game in 17 appearances since 2020. The 6-foot-6 offensive lineman, who transitioned from tackle to center, spent seven weeks on Philadelphia’s practice squad before getting signed by the Panthers on Oct.24. In his short tenure with Carolina, he started one game at guard against the Titans in Week 12.

Toth’s versatility should help the Eagles if any injuries occur upfront. He joins two other offensive lineman on the Eagles’ practice squad: offensive tackle Le’Raven Clark and guard Lecitus Smith. Philadelphia also brought back wide receiver Greg Ward to its practice squad on Tuesday. In corresponding moves, the Eagles released practice-squad wide receiver Cam Sims and waived linebacker Christian Elliss from their 53-man roster

best position coaches in the league. Since 2013, the Eagles have added many young offensive lineman via late-round picks or as undrafted free agents, including Toth. Now, he gets another chance to help develop Toth into a quality reserve.
