FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Red Sox made two roster moves Thursday. They optioned infielder/outfielder Romy Gonzalez and infielder David Hamilton to Triple-A Worcester.
The 27-year-old Gonzalez had a shot to make the Opening Day roster because he’s a versatile right-handed hitter and Boston is left-handed hitter heavy, especially in the outfield. But Gonzalez will start the season in Triple A with an opportunity to help out the big league club at some point during the regular season.
