Denver Broncos Andy Reid roundup: 4 takeaways from the Chiefs’ head coach Nelly October 16, 2023 3 min read Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid met with the media via Zoom on Monday, four days after the team’s 19-8 win over the Denver Broncos on “Thursday Night Football.” Reid started by saying he thought the Chiefs played good defense against the Broncos and praised the play of kicker Harrison Butker. He likes a high-yardage offense, but he wants more success in the red zone while avoiding penalties. Reid then answered questions, which we’ve compiled into four lessons: Reid explained that the club has not yet decided anything regarding Frank Clark. The Broncos released former Chiefs quarterback Frank Clark on Friday, making him a free agent once again. As expected, Clark has been connected to Kansas City for a possible return. “As I mentioned before, we love Frank,” Reid said. “We are just discussing a few things right now. There are a few things you need to consider when doing this. But that’s where we are. We have done nothing so far. Clark played only two games for the Broncos before being released. Reid said the coaching staff intends to strengthen Charles Omenihu when his suspension is over. The Kansas City free agent defensive back has served his six-game suspension and is expected to play against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 7. “I thought the front did a great job of pressuring and hitting the quarterback,” Reid said. “They also do a great job with the running game, and you add Charles – a good football player – into the mix, I can’t wait to see him involved. I don’t know if he’s going to be able to ‘come in and play the whole game, one of those things. I thought maybe we’d take him back and let him go and see how he was doing. Reid confirmed that Omenihu has remained in good form. Let’s say defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo handles Omenihu the same way he did Chris Jones. In this case, it’s reasonable to expect Omenihu to play 30 to 40 snaps in his Kansas City debut. Reid once again spoke about equality in the NFL. Sunday’s Week 6 rankings saw two big changes: The Philadelphia Eagles lost to the New York Jets and the San Francisco 49ers lost to the Cleveland Browns. When asked if that makes a tight Week 4 matchup with the Jets more plausible, Reid said he just wants his team to get better as a whole. “[We] are probably more focused on improving what we do. We have a lot to handle without worrying too much about other people,” Reid said. “You sit back and watch these games, it tells you the parity that exists in this league right now. Is crazy. This is great for all cities in the tournament. “Everyone has a chance and that’s what the league is looking for. This is where we are with the other side. Reid discussed ways the team can improve heading into Week 7. Reid’s Chiefs are currently 5-1 after the first six weeks of the season. It’s tied for the best record in the NFL, but it’s not perfect. Reid detailed his likes and dislikes during the press conference. “I like the way the young guys are progressing, the offensive line, every rep they get, they’re getting better and so, I think we’re improving a lot,” Reid said. “We need to get rid of some penalties in important situations. We must take care Tags: Andy Reid Continue Reading Previous Previous post: Pat McAfee Says Broncos Rumored To Make Change At DC, Beloved Coach In Running To Take OverNext Next post: RUMOR: Broncos considering surprising Rex Ryan move amid poor start, per Pat McAfee Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
