Ange Postecoglou reveals the Premier League team he supported as a child, Tottenham fans will not like this

Ange Postecoglou has revealed which Premier League team he supported as a child and it won’t sit well with Tottenham fans.

The Australian coach took charge at the London Stadium in June and has guided Spurs to a brilliant start to the season as they sit second in the Premier League table, level on points with Arsenal and Liverpool.

Postecoglou faces his toughest test yet on Sunday, when Tottenham travel to the Emirates to face the Gunners in an iconic north London derby.

Speaking ahead of the exciting clash, the 58-year-old told Gary Lineker he haddreamed of working in football management since he was young and admitted he was inspired by one of the clubs Britain’s largest.

“I’m a huge Liverpool fan. I love Bill Shankly, I love the dressing room, the whole story,” Postecoglou said.

said on BBC’s Football Focuss

When asked by Lineker if he was still a Liverpool fan, the Spurs boss jokingly replied:

“Wow, I took down the posters last week, man!”

Postecoglou added:

“Liverpool in the 70s, when they controlled the ball and played football, it was a bit different and it always attracted me in that way. Obviously it influenced me.”

While Tottenham fans may wince at his comments, they will have to put their opinions aside for Sunday’s heavyweight clash, as Tottenham prepare to face an Arsenal team in high form.

Speaking ahead of the meeting in the Emirates, Postecoglou said:

“In terms of how we play, we won’t change, man. We’ll go out there and scare them.

“If we avoid this, if we don’t play our football, if we try to draw and survive the experience, what have we really learned? Other than surviving 90 minutes of football? Nothing. We will go out and play football.”

Ange Postecoglou gave an excellent answer when asked whether Tottenham Hotspur fans should temper their expectations.

After losing talisman Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window, many Spurs fans feared the worst going into the 23/24 season.

However, under Postecoglou, Spurs are currently ranked second on the Premier League table, having won 13 points from their opening five matches.

After a dramatic 2-1 win over Sheffield United on Saturday, many Spurs fans are starting to get excited about the Postecoglou era.

During his post-match press conference, Postecoglou was asked whether Spurs fans should temper their expectations.

The Australian’s response will for sure go down well with the Spurs fans.

He said: “No, no, no, let them go, let them go and enjoy it. My role is not to burst people’s bubbles.

Talking about the match against Sheffield, Postecoglou said:

“So many things happened today! It is good. You want to see all aspects of our team develop and today is as much about character as it is about football. It’s great to see the players’ reactions. It was a difficult match.

“There seems to be a lot of downtime, a lot of stops, no heavy traffic. For the most part, we handled the situation well.

He continued:

“I really liked the way the guys did it. We remained calm, alert and progressed very well in the match after all the chaos going on.

Ange Postecoglou’s heartwarming gesture to a young fan has made the Tottenham owner attract even more fans.

Postecoglou has quickly established himself as a fan favorite at the London Stadium after a brilliant start as head coach.

The Australian was named Premier League Manager of the Month for August after Spurs beat Manchester United and Bournemouth and drew 2-2 with Brentford.

At the same time, he has set an example off the field, giving an incredibly powerful speech on mental health in football at a recent press conference.
