Latest Aston Villa news as they host Crystal Palace at 3pm this coming Saturday in their first game back after the international break

When the first international break of the new season comes to an end, Aston Villa will resume play.

On Saturday at 3 p.m., Villa will play at Villa Park in an effort to avenge their most recent 3-0 loss to Liverpool. Dominik Szoboszlai, a Matty Cash own goal, and a Mo Salah goal helped Jurgen Klopp’s team win the match and earn all three points.

In their first game following the break, Unai Emery’s team faces Crystal Palace, who are coming off a 3-2 victory against Wolves. Even though some team players have been abroad on international duty, the Villa squad will be preparing for the match.

The two-week break has also given those in the treatment room extra time to recover and be ready to return to action. With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest…

Diego Carlos

In the Premier League match against Liverpool last week, the 30-year-old started but was substituted after only 19 minutes due to a hamstring injury. Unai Emery took action following the game to reassure supporters about the seriousness of the issue.

Although it’s not a serious injury, it impacted our strategy, the manager stated. The defender’s participation in the forthcoming game against Crystal Palace next weekend is nonetheless uncertain because of the injury.

Emery has benefited from Alex Moreno Moreno’s return to practise this week. The full-back, who was one of Emery’s first hires as Villa manager, underwent surgery over the summer after being hurt in the season’s last game.

He missed the first six games of the new season in all competitions while recovering, but he is now getting closer to playing again. The defender was pictured by Villa on the grass at Bodymoor Heath, which was released online and received positive feedback from fans.

Whether the game against Crystal Palace comes too soon for him remains to be seen.
