Marquez’s performance on the last day of testing at Losail, along with a subsequent collision, sparked questions about the constraints placed on his arm. The Gresini Ducati racer acknowledges that his preparation and riding style are affected because the operated arm requires more care than the other.

Marquez had contemplated retirement in 2022, but after his fourth surgery in the US, he had optimism again. After several mishaps and unsatisfactory outcomes during his time with Honda, he decided to transfer to Ducati in order to start again. “As I’ve always said, and I’m not lying, it’s an arm that requires more attention than the other,” Marquez says candidly about the extra attention his arm needs.

Marquez’s transparency about his physical challenges shows his determination to overcome obstacles and return to his best form in MotoGP. He notes that his physical condition allowed him to plan for a long run during testing, indicating his confidence in his fitness. However, he remains realistic about his current competitive position, attributing it more to the ongoing adaptation to the Ducati Desmosedici than to his arm, as noted by our partner Corsedimoto.

Marc Marquez’s journey highlights the resilience and adaptability required at the highest levels of motorcycle racing, as he works to balance his physical limitations with the demands of competing in MotoGP.
