It seems like Edwards’ customary warm-up routine before the game went a little bit too long. However, the past few days have been memorable for him as he had to leave Minnesota’s victory over the Sacramento Kings at halftime on Friday in order to attend his first child’s birth. Although Edwards was back in the starting lineup for Monday’s game against Portland, it appears like he was still out of rhythm during Sunday’s loss to the LA Clippers.

Edwards, however, is hardly the first professional athlete to be the target of jokes about Pierce, and it’s unlikely that he will be the last.

Anthony Edwards is attempting to dispel the rumors about Paul Pierce.

Intriguingly, Monday’s tip-off between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Portland Trail Blazers was missed by star player Edwards. Although Edwards was on the court, he was forced to sit out the first few possessions since he was late for the game’s opening. Because of this, Edwards’ typical starting five position was taken by teammate Nickeil Alexander-Walker until Edwards entered the game on the first dead ball (at 11:25 of the first quarter). It would be an understatement to say that the Trail Blazers were shorthanded versus Minnesota Friday night. The only regular starter in the starting lineup was Anfernee Simons, who was excellent by the way. The other starters were Kris Murray, Dalano Banton, Jabari Walker, and Duop Reath; Portland’s bench minutes were led by Rayan Rupert and Ashton Hagans.
