With the GM Meetings being ended early, the Hot Stove’s going to be incredibly hot in Nashville

Free agency is underway, but, uh…the stove’s a little cold.

We’ve seen several minor trades and smaller signings come across the wire, but other than Aaron Nola returning to Philadelphia, it’s been rather quiet on all of the large free agents – Shohei Ohtani, Cody Bellinger, Blake Snell, etc.

With the General Manager meetings earlier in November being ended prematurely due to…medical reasons, expect even more action than usual in Nashville. From December 3rd through 6th, all 30 MLB teams, various player agents, free agents, and news outlets (including Braves Today) will be in the Gaylord Hotel in Nashville, TN for what projects to be one of the busiest Winter Meetings in recent history. By the end of last year’s meetings, over $2 billion – yes, with a B – in future salaries had already been given to a star-studded free agent class that included Aaron Judge, Trea Turner, Jacob deGrom, and Xander Bogaerts. The class isn’t as deep this year, but it’s arguably more top heavy than ever with Japanese stars Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

We should have a lot more clarity on Atlanta’s offseason plans after the four days in Nashville,

How long until pitchers and catchers report?

79 days. Atlanta’s expected to ask pitchers and catchers to report on Monday, February 12th, in advance of their first spring training game on February 24th against the Tampa Bay Rays. An official announcement of the reporting date will come in January.

Here’s the odds for the top 10 teams to win the 2024 World Series according to FanDuel

Atlanta Braves – +600
Los Angeles Dodgers – +700
Texas Rangers – +850
Houston Astros – +850
Philadelphia Phillies – +1000
