With the help of insiders at Bama247, projected OC candidates to fill the void left by Grubb already come into focus at one of college football’s premiere destinations.First, DeBoer has to determine if there are any of staff departures along with Grubb to the NFL and move forward accordingly. Grubb was arguably DeBoer’s most important assistant carry-over from Washington to Tuscaloosa, part of the reason several NFL franchises placed eyes on him.

Grubb and DeBoer were the braintrust behind Washington’s record-setting success last season offensively, en route to Heisman finalist honors for quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and a berth in the College Football Playoff’s national title game. Given the talent Alabama has returning on offense, this will be a vacancy that attracts considerable coaching talent if DeBoer chooses to expand his search.

The Bruins’ coaching search, meanwhile, moved quickly with hiring a replacement for Kelly. UCLA named DeShaun Foster the successor in a Monday morning announcement.
