Andy Murr`ay will potentially look to play doubles with his brother Jamie Murray at Wimbledon during his farewell at SW19 next month after saying that he’s already had conversations about a potential union.
Whilst Andy was supremely successful in the singles realm, brother Jamie has been one of the finest doubles players in the world over the last decade with two major titles to his name.
The pair have played doubles together at the Davis Cup, but never at a major tournament.
After losing out with Dan Evans in the doubles at Roland Garros against Thiago Seyboth Wild and Sebastian Baez, he is contemplating joining up with his brother who despite his prowess doesn’t have a partner yet for Wimbledon.
“My brother doesn’t have a partner for Wimbledon currently,” Andy said. “We have spoken a little bit about it.
“So may do that, but not 100% sure yet. We will make a decision ahead of time. Obviously Jamie, he could also get a good partner, as well. We’ll see what happens, but yeah, we’ll probably decide in the next few days.”
But whilst that dream team could happen, his hopes of potentially teaming with Dan Evans at the Olympic Games have been dented with the hope being that they would win a few games and seal a Paris spot. But it wasn’t to be for the duo.
“Me and Dan obviously were hoping to have a good run here,” Murray said. “It wasn’t to be. So don’t know if we’ll get the opportunity [to play doubles at the Olympics].
“There are guys ahead of us in the rankings, and we’ve got good doubles players in the UK. Let’s see what happens.”
