When the chance to join the Whites came up late in the summer transfer season, Jaidon Anthony, a new signin for Leeds United, was “really desperate” to do so, according to manager Daniel Farke.

Luis Sinisterra, a former Leeds winger, made the season-long loan switch to Bournemouth on Friday night in a move that could only be finalised through the submission of a transaction sheet. In exchange, the West Yorkshire club received Anthony, who was also on loan, from the Bournemouth.

Anthony has played in three Premier League games for the Cherries this season and has extensive Championship experience after playing a key role in the Bournemouth team that won promotion to the top division in 2022.

And while Sinisterra’s departure may have left many Leeds supporters with a bad taste in their mouths, Anthony’s replacement of Sinisterra seems to have lessened the blow a little.

Farke spoke with Leeds Live about the transfer, which indicates that he is particularly pleased with this really late piece of transfer window activity.

“I believe that with Jaidon Anthony, we have identified the best alternative available. He is a seasoned Championship player who has produced numerous strong efforts for Bournemouth at this level.

He started his first Premier League games and played a lot in the Premier League, a great guy, very hungry to come here.

“He is still at an age where he can improve. You cannot compare him to Luis because he is a confirmed international and Jaidon is still young, we want to improve and work with him but he also has a lot of qualities and is very Lots of potential to work with him.

So Leeds appear not only to be investing in Anthony’s natural talent and growth potential, but also – perhaps most importantly – the 23-year-old is desperate to put on the famous white shirt.

Due to the belated nature of the transfer, Anthony was unable to feature in the Whites’ disappointing 0-0 draw with Yorkshire rivals Sheffield on Wednesday at the weekend, but he will certainly be in contention. a role in Farke’s starting line-up after this week’s international break.
