Thiago Alcantara’s contract expires at the end of the 2023–24 season, hence it is believed that Liverpool is actively looking for a replacement.

You supposedly believed that the transfer rumours were over.

Well, regardless of the state of their roster, Liverpool will always be mentioned in connection with new transfers.

According to the most recent report from the Liverpool Echo, Andre may be acquired for £30 million in January after an effort to bring him in during the summer transfer window was considered.

What has changed since Andre joined Liverpool FC?

Andre was widely rumoured to be moving to Anfield until Liverpool signed Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo towards the end of the transfer window, so fans will be familiar with him.

The mood of the fans dropped after many expressed concern that Liverpool would not proceed with business ahead of time.

With the summer transfer window closed, Jurgen Klopp’s midfield options, in no particular order, are:

Dominik Szoboszlai

Thiago Alcantara

Alexis MacAllister

Curtis Jones

Ryan Gravenberch

Wataru Endo

Harvey Elliott

Stefan Bajcetic

In midfield, Liverpool now have an acceptable level of depth and quality compared to last season.

According to Theo Squires of The Liverpool Echo, Thiago Alcantara’s contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, and Liverpool may attempt to replace him proactively in January.

One of the best midfielders of his generation at age 31, the 31-year-old has struggled with injuries at Anfield and hasn’t been able to fully display his potential for the Premier League.

According to Brazilian news stories reported by the Echo, Liverpool’s £25.5 million offer for Andre was turned down.

However, as Fluminense does not want to lose the 22-year-old mid-season (Brazil’s season ends in December), a deal to bring him to Anfield is still only possible in January.

Globo Esporte reported in August that although Liverpool were willing to offer Fluminense 30 million euros plus bonuses, they would not allow a move to the Premier League.

Flumiense President Mario Bittencourt even warned interested clubs in June 2023 that André would not be allowed to leave mid-season.

Since we must make sales, we won’t lie to anyone, but I can guarantee it won’t be Andre,” Bittencourt said. “We won’t put Andre up for sale in the middle of the year.

We even discussed his contract renewal. Our director of football, Angioni, is negotiating with his advisors. We have no requests or proposals for any player. But Andre won’t be the player who can be sold.
