Sergio Perez has revealed he ran into various issues with the Red Bull RB20 car despite finishing the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix second.

Perez marked his highest finish since last year’s Italian Grand Prix on a dream day for Red Bull as Max Verstappen took the chequered flag out to ensure a one-two finish for the reigning World Champions.

While Verstappen beamed over the handling of his car that saw him win by over 22 seconds, Perez asserted that he had a number of problems en route to second place.

“I think it was the maximum we could have achieved,” Perez said.

Perez disclosed that he was facing more serious issues in addition to the Pirelli tires that he needed to monitor.

Perez said, “The amount of sliding we were having was really compound to compound.”

We were experiencing some problems with the engine’s braking and maneuverability, which is challenging in this area due to the abundance of low-speed traffic.

“We’ll undoubtedly analyze everything tonight to make sure we have the knowledge necessary for Jeddah [next week].”

Since Sergio Perez is getting ready for what is likely to be his final season with the company, Red Bull director Helmut Marko has ruled out connections to two drivers. The reigning Constructors’ champions, Perez, 34, is in the fourth and final year of his contract; he has not yet received an offer for an extension.
