Cristian Romero makes North London Derby promise amid Tottenham star’s Ange Postecoglou verdict

Arsenal will welcome Tottenham to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon in what is poised to be a blockbuster North London Derby

The 25-year-old defender has played a leading role in Ange Postecoglou’s squad so far this season, helping the Lilywhites to their best start to a campaign in the English top flight since 1965.

Romero has appeared five times for Spurs in the Premier League this season, scoring two goals. His impressive performance lifted Tottenham to second place behind Manchester City, who top the table with 15 points.

With only a 3-goal difference between Spurs and Arsenal, the Gunners will try hard to get ahead of their opponents when they host them at Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon. However, turning the Lilywhites’ fortunes around won’t be easy – especially as Romero treats every match like a final. In an interview with Optus Sport, the Argentina international said:
“We treat every game as if it were a final. First of all, we have Arsenal and we treat it as a final, not just because it’s a derby but because that’s how we want to continue.” approaching matches this season.”

Last year, Romero helped his country win the World Cup and the defender is hoping to bring the same unity to the Tottenham squad. He say:
“It is a clear example to follow… I see the manager here wants to start a family and we are on the right track.

“Of course, it is much more difficult to create that at a club with many different nationalities, but Tottenham have a good group of players to achieve that.”

Romero is no stranger to a fiery affair and the red mist is about to descend when Spurs take on Arsenal. Speaking to Optus Sport, the north London derby was compared to the derby in his hometown of Cordoba, central Argentina, between Belgrano and Talleres.

“Belgrano is the team that has given me everything and yes, in this match emotions can be a little mixed,” he said before subtly taking aim at the Gunners. “But this… this is the ultimate derby against a team that, after Manchester City, is the second best team [in the Premier League].”

As Arsenal enter the clash after a thrilling 4-0 win over PSV in the Champions League, Tottenham are still expected to attack the Gunners with attacks on goal. Before Postecoglou came on the field, many predicted Spurs would sit behind the ball and apply pressure. “I think the club needs the type of manager that is completely consistent with the history of the club,” Romero told Postecoglou. “He is a good person. All his coaches are good people, working for us 24 hours a day. And he has clear goals. He wants to achieve everything. “
