Jalen Brunson has consistently performed well for the New York Knicks, despite initial doubts about his ability. Draymond Green, a forward for the Golden State Warriors, believes that being an All-Star guard alone will not suffice to win a championship.

During the Knicks’ first round matchup against Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers, Brunson demonstrated why the Dallas Mavericks made a mistake by releasing him a few years ago. Across six games, the point guard averaged 35.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 9.0 assists.

While his percentages looked impressive on paper, Brunson’s on-court effectiveness differed slightly. During that series against the Sixers, he shot 42% from the field, 30% from beyond the arc, and 77% from the line.

Brunson had a different tale in Game 6, as he used his complete range of abilities to seal the Sixers’ fate. In that game, the Knicks guard scored 41 points, connecting on 48 percent of his field goals and 37 percent of his three-pointers. He also dished out 12 assists and had three rebounds. As a consequence, the Knicks advanced to the next round, against the Indiana Pacers.

Draymond Green says Jalen Brunson won’t be enough for the New York Knicks to win the championship.

While many are impressed at Brunson’s transformation with the Knicks, Golden State’s Draymond Green does not believe he’s enough for New York to win a championship. A video posted by The Volume on X:

Although Green makes a point, five other New York players scored in double digits against Philadelphia in the series. With players like Josh Hart, Donte DiVincenzo, and Miles McBride making an impact without many touches, the Knicks have the potential to thrive.

Only time will tell whether Green is correct or incorrect in his judgment of Brunson. What is known, however, is that the Knicks All-Star guard has been defying expectations since his rookie season in 2018.
