Although others grabbed most of the headlines, Gary Lineker thought Yves Bissouma was too good for Tottenham Hotspur.

Lineker spoke on ‘The Rest is Football’ podcast and said Bissouma improved as the game progressed.

Lineker said:

“I’ll tell you who else caught my eye during the match, the two Tottenham players.

“One of them hasn’t really been noticed under Conte.

“Bissouma, who we all thought was great at Brighton. “I think at the beginning of the game he dropped it a few times, but then he got it done.”

Of course, Bissouma is one of the most improved players under Ange Postecoglou this season.

As Lineker mentioned, Bissouma barely had a single match under former boss Antonio Conte while at Tottenham.

But fans who watched the Malian international at Brighton will not be surprised by these levels.

£25m Bissouma has what it takes to become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and he is proving it right now.

Lineker said Tottenham’s Bissouma was all over Arsenal yesterday

Of course, although Spurs’ midfield is playing excitedly right now, fans will wait for the return of Rodrigo Bentancur.

The Uruguayan is getting closer to fitness by the day and should prove an incredible partner for Bissouma.

That’s not to say Pape Matar Sarr wasn’t excellent, but Bentancur would demand a starting spot in any team.

As Lineker suggests, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic at Tottenham right now, and Bissouma is just the beginning.

Ange Postecoglou has only one chance to change his Tottenham team, and there are many more to come.

Once this Spurs team is fully on their own, they can be an extremely difficult team to beat – as they have proven to be.

Tottenham have a lot of momentum right now and that is far from stopping at the Emirates Stadium.
