Gil, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla, may have felt badly done by by his lack of opportunities under Antonio Conte. The winger would have hoped to make an impression on Postecoglou during preseason.
His chances of accomplishing this, however, were dashed when he sustained a groyne injury that kept him from participating in preseason games.
L’Equipe claims that Lyon attempted to recruit the 22-year-old on a loan during transfer deadline day but were unable due to ‘financial or time reasons’.

Bryan Gil posted an Instagram Story hinting that he’ll be back in action soon.
Gil may have felt bad for not getting many opportunities under Antonio Conte and the winger, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla, is said to be hoping to impress with Ange Postecoglou in pre-season.

However, his hopes of doing so were dashed when he picked up a groin injury that sidelined him at the start of the season.
According to L’Equipe, Lyon tried to loan the 22-year-old on loan on transfer deadline day but failed due to ‘financial or time reasons’.

Actually, Postecoglou would adore some of the qualities that Gil possesses. Despite being weaker than Kulusevsli, he is significantly more direct and aggressive than the Swede in one-on-one combat. Johnson’s inclusion in the team makes it seem improbable that the former Sevilla player will see action.
