Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool and Jack Grealish of Manchester City have both pulled out of the England team for the games in September due to injuries.

The two were predictably added to Gareth Southgate’s team for their games against Scotland on September 12 and Ukraine in a Euro 2024 qualifying encounter on Saturday.

However, Grealish and Alexander-Arnold both had injuries from their domestic games when they arrived at St. George’s Park, with the former missing Man City’s 5-1 hammering of Fulham due to a quadriceps injury.

Alexander-Arnold left the pitch in the 71st minute of Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Aston Villa due to a hamstring injury, and he immediately walked down the Anfield tunnel after leaving the pitch.

Grealish and Alexander-Arnold have both been sent home by England to concentrate on their recoveries, and Southgate has no plans to call up any replacements.

In addition, Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier will be late to camp due to personal business, but the Three Lions have enough resources to return to play.

After replacing Alexander-Arnold at the weekend, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed the defender has suffered a hamstring injury, although the player hopes he does not have a serious hamstring problem.

According to The Athletic, Alexander-Arnold will not be sidelined for long, but the 24-year-old is likely to be out for the next two weeks after undergoing tests on Monday.

 

Alexander-Arnold’s appearance in Liverpool’s Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on September 16 is therefore uncertain, but he is expected to return in their Europa League opener against the team. Austrian ball LASK Linz on September 21.
