After an event-filled opening to the 2024 Formula One season, Max Verstappen has appealed for “peace” within the Red Bull team. With his second attack on team principal Christian Horner just before the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, this will send a strong message to his father, Jos.

A week ago, Jos went to the media to disclose the specifics of a “blazing row” he had with Horner in the paddock at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Jos claimed that Horner’s position as the team principal was getting untenable and that by continuing to hold onto it, he was running the risk of rupturing the team.

Prior to the second round in Jeddah, the 52-year-old reiterated those remarks, telling the Daily Mail that “all these things that are going on are having an influence on Max.”

“Horner and his circumstances are the only things discussed. During Horner’s news conference the other day, the entire conversation revolved around him and his issues, rather than Max, the vehicle, his performance, and the race.

“I’ve previously expressed my opinion that if he stays, it will cause issues. Although I believe it is too late for Christian to say “leave me alone,” I believe he will stay for the remainder of the season since he has the Thai owner’s support. I suggested that his staying would be detrimental since the entire situation isn’t beneficial for the club.

But after the race on Saturday at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, his son was eager to move on from the mayhem off the track, especially since his father, Helmut Marko, now seemed to have a more stable future.
