According to financial expert Stefan Borson, who spoke with Football Insider exclusively, the northeast giants will likely need to sell someone in the next few days in order to avoid losing points in the upcoming season.
Bruno Guimaraes has been heavily linked with a move away from St James’ Park, but it’s now emerged his £100million release clause expired on 24 June.
But it’s unclear whether that sale would be enough to bridge the PSR gap as the Tyneside club are believed to be close to their allowable losses limit.
According to the figures Borson has seen, Newcastle is currently short, so if they don’t make any noteworthy sales in the upcoming days, they risk losing ground.
