After being completely exonerated of all legal charges, former Buffalo Bills punter Matt Araiza is concentrating on making a return to the NFL and has joined the Super Bowl champions.

On February 22, ESPN’s Adam Teicher revealed that the punter, who had been dropped from a lawsuit alleging he had sexually assaulted a 17-year-old female in 2021 during an off-campus party while attending San Diego State University, had signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Bills had drafted Araiza in 2022, but he was waived in August following his inclusion in a lawsuit.

Now that Tommy Townsend, the All-Pro punter, is set to hit free agency, Araiza will have the opportunity to contend for a spot on the Super Bowl winners.

Having been cut by the Bills, Araiza had been trying to find a new team. Galgos de Tijuana, a Mexican football team, stated in February 2022 that they had hired Araiza after he remained unsigned through the 2022 season. However, the new role was temporary. Later, Araiza decided not to travel to Mexico after all and expressed his desire to rejoin the NFL in a tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“Araiza, whose agent Joe Linta states, never signed with the team and remains a free agent, hoping for an opportunity in the NFL. He was previously reported to have signed with Galgos de Tijuana of the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional in Mexico.”
Araiza’s aspirations for the NFL were enhanced last season when he was granted a session with the New York
