The Baltimore Ravens have been linked to a potential pursuit of some of the top running backs in free agency this spring, however, it seems their general manager is open to staying the course with the same starting RB from this past season.

The Ravens came up one win short of reaching the Super Bowl this past season. Despite the best efforts of 2023 NFL MVP Lamar Jackson, it became clear that the organization needed to get better on offense and not rely so much on the arm and legs of the talented quarterback if they wanted to win it all next season.

That is why the organization has been linked to using their top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to improve their offensive line or their wide receiver corps for the upcoming season. There have also been rumblings about making a move to upgrade the running back spot and a recent report suggested they could target stars Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry in free agency.

JK Dobbins stats (Career): 24 games, 1,347 rushing yards, 19 total TD, 5.8 yards per carry

However, while pursuits of those two talented veterans are still possible, it looks like general manager Eric DeCosta is open to the idea of bringing back his original starting running back from last season JK Dobbins, despite only playing in nine games over the last two seasons.

“We’re still talking to Gus [Edwards]. We’ll talk to J.K. — a couple of free agents that we had, DeCosta told the team’s website on Tuesday. “We’re hopeful that we can get something done with those guys.”

It is a surprising decision but the Ravens were high on Dobbins before this past season as the former second-round pick showed his potential during moments in 2022. However, his 2022 season was cut short due to an ACL tear and despite being given the starting job in 2023, in Week 1 he sadly tore his Achilles.

However, the team may feel he can bounce back from both injuries and with the Baltimore Ravens not having a ton of money to use this offseason, he would certainly come at a very affordable rate in free agency.
