West Ham United boss Julen Lopetegui could secure a bargain deal for a class striker this summer.
Julen Lopetegui has begun his summer rebuild at West Ham by signing Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham.
Meanwhile, Said Benrahma and Ben Johnson have left, with Lopetegui eyeing at least four new signings before the 2024/25 season begins.
The Spaniard struck a chord with the London Stadium faithful by claiming that the Hammers are “the only club in London”.
In my opinion, Lopetegui still needs to sign at least six new players.
Need a new striker, centre-back, defensive midfielder, left winger, left back and right back if we want to fight on all fronts next season.
One could argue that adding a right-footed left winger will be one of Lopetegui’s top priorities this summer, especially after Benrahma’s departure was made official announced.
And now the 57-year-old West Ham boss has a fantastic opportunity to bring in the perfect man for the role, at a truly bargain price.
Julen Lopetegui could bring a striker to West Ham for a bargain price The Hammers boss has a great opportunity to address the real positional problem he has in his squad at the moment.
Although Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta played on the left at times last season, neither was at his best in that role.
Now is the time for Lopetegui to recruit a player comfortable on the left and capable of cutting inside with his stronger right foot.
And the door is now wide open for the West Ham coach to make a very good deal for the club.
According to Portuguese media outlet Record (print edition dated July 2), West Ham can now sign Jota Silva for just £12.
7 million.
That would be unrealistic value for the Hammers today.
The 24-year-old has been on the Hammers’ radar since May, and it doesn’t surprise me at all given his qualities.
Silva has plenty of pace, powerful shots, outstanding technical ability and is an extremely hard worker.
The striker was in great form in Portugal last season, with 15 goals and seven assists for Vitoria de Guimaraes.
In my opinion, signing Jota Silva for just £12.
7m would be a no-brainer for West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui this summer.
There wouldn’t have been a better deal for the Hammers.
