West Ham plans to completely overhaul its defensive system in the summer transfer window.
According to a report in The Times (June 21), Julen Lopetegui wants to sign three new defenders in the summer transfer window, after the Hammers conceded 74 goals in the 2023-24 season.
Angelo Ogbonna has been released by the club after his contract expired.
Kurt Zouma is for sale as he struggles to stay fit each week, while Nayef Aguerd wants to leave the club this summer.
The 28-year-old defender attracted interest from Saudi Arabia last summer.
West Ham are yet to receive any offers for him but he is still expected to leave.
West Ham have agreed a £25.
5m deal to sign Luis Guilherme, and hope to add four more players for the start of the season.
Big changes needed in defense David Moyes has done a good job at the club but Lopetegui will feel he needs a lot of surgery, especially in defense.
In reality, he did not inherit a very strong corporation.
West Ham may need to add a new full-back, a striker, an attacking midfielder, a reserve goalkeeper and of course plenty of centre-backs.
The Hammers have reached an agreement to sign Wes Foderingham on a free transfer and he will complete a medical next week.
Aguerd joined the club in a major signing from French club Rennes in 2022.
He spent most of his time in the treatment room and finished the season strongly, scoring two goals in 30 games.
Everyone expected him to step up last season, but he was just average all season.
He has only made 28 appearances and West Ham are unlikely to hesitate to sell him if they receive good offers from Saudi Pro League clubs.
