According to SPORT, West Ham United target Clement Lenglet is now free to leave Barcelona as the Spanish giants have approved his departure via a loan deal.

The Spanish newspaper reported via its online edition on June 28 that Hansi Flick now sees the Frenchman as a “clear void”, with West Ham having expressed their interest at the beginning summer.

Despite the Hammers’ interest, they are not the only ones interested in the former Tottenham man.

The likes of Napoli and Sevilla are also vying for his transfer.

SPORT also added that no formal offer has yet been made by the London-based club.

Why West Ham United should target Clement Lenglet this summer It’s no surprise to fans and pundits that Julen Lopetegui is looking for defensive reinforcements this summer, particularly at centre-back.

In fact, any fee in excess of £5m seems too high, especially when the Hammers need to improve a number of areas in their squad.

As Lenglet is going on loan, he would cost Lopetegui a lot less money and allow them to target other players in other problem areas such as upfront.
