Ryan Clark, an ESPN commentator and former player, discussed Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin’s future with the team during an appearance on the television programme “Get Up.” He stated that following a turbulent season in 2023 in which the team has dropped its last three games, the Steelers and Tomlin’s partnership ought to end.

On TV, Clark stated, “Coach Tomlin should now move on from Pittsburgh.” “And the fricking man knows how to do it, but he shouldn’t do it there anymore, so everyone should be lining up to hire him.”

Clark made a statement that may come as a surprise because he was a member of the Steelers from 2006 to 2013, during which time Tomlin began his career. Host Mike Greenberg interrupted Clark’s speech to reassure the audience that it is necessary for Clark to voice this position since, as it was mentioned, the two are “close.” Clark’s perspective is not just that of a fan.

However, Clark saying for Tomlin to move on is not from coaching the game of football, but from the Steelers organization. He compared it to the way head coach Andy Reid left the Philadelphia Eagles, but needed a fresh start elsewhere which is what he got with the Kansas City Chiefs and the rest is history.

While he believes part of the Steelers problem is the way the team is constructed, Clark acknowledged that Tomlin has not succeeded in trying to adjust. When he was asked “How much is it about him not getting it right or is it just the fit has run its course?” Clark was honest in his response.

“I think he has tried to adjust, but I think part of it is his not getting it right, because you have to adjust in order to stay the coach as long as he is and remain successful,” Clark said. “I think a big part of his adjustment was always, ‘I’m letting you be you,’ and giving you that room; in exchange, you’ll be about me and what we do as a team, professionalism, return effort. These men aren’t giving that to
