SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) – Whitehouse Mayor James Wansley talks about the Kansas City Chiefs’ national championship win over the San Francisco 49ers.

The Kansas City Chiefs made it back-to-back Superbowl wins with their win over the 49ers Sunday night. The noise made by Chiefs fans could be heard all the way to East Texas as well, with QB Patrick Mahomes’ home town of Whitehouse celebrating just as much as the crowd in Las Vegas. The town watched as the former Whitehouse High School superstar led the Chiefs to another Super Bowl win, including the mayor, James Wansley.

“I mean, the NFL is a really competitive spot. To come out on top of the heap so many times as they have over the last five years, it’s phenomenal. So we couldn’t be more proud that we have Patrick Mahomes representing our community,” said Mayor Wansley.

Murals supporting the NFL superstar and his team can still be seen around Whitehouse. That’s something that the town has done for years as a way to support him and the team during their recent rise to sustained NFL glory

February will be difficult for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. There’s no guarantee Travis Kelce isn’t retiring, Chris Jones is set to become a free agent and even coach Andy Reid could ride off into the sunset.
