The seven-time Super Bowl champion, Brady, had recently shared, keeping in mind the present situation of the NFL, that there is “a lot of mediocrity in today’s NFL”, according to Pro Football Talk via The Athletic.

He had further shared, “I think the coaching isn’t as good as it was,”

“I don’t think the development of young players is as good as it was. I don’t think the schemes are as good as they were. The rules have allowed a lot of bad habits to get into the actual performance of the game. . . . So I just think the product in my opinion is less than what it’s been.”

“I look at a lot of players like Ray Lewis and Rodney Harrison and Ronnie Lott and guys that impacted the game in a certain way — and every hit they would have made would have been a penalty,”

“You hear coaches complaining about their own player being tackled and not necessarily — why don’t they talk to their player about how to protect himself? . . . We used to work on the fundamentals of those things all the time. Now they’re trying to be regulated all the time.”

“Offensive players need to protect themselves,”

“It’s not up to a defensive player to protect an offensive player. A defensive player needs to protect himself. . . . I think a lot of the way that the rules have come into play have allowed this — you can essentially play carefree and then if anyone hits you hard, there’s a penalty.”

However, the running back who was also inducted into the Hall of Fame thinks differently about the present NFL league.

Detroit’s legendary figure, Barry Sanders, however, shared whilst giving weight to the current success of the Lions and, as per CBS Sports via Robert Griffin III’s podcast, “Well, maybe he’s talking about the teams that he played for,”

“The team that I played for, no. It’s anything but mediocre. For us as Lions fans, maybe I just have blinders on, because of how we’re leading the division. “

“I still see a great product. Still see great teams. Very popular game. I would listen to anything he has to say, but hey, look, I think this is like the greatest product, the greatest things we’ve ever seen as Lions fans. So I’m gonna enjoy this for a while.”

The Lions are the top contenders in the NFC North even after losing to the Green Bay Packers. The Lions are 8-3 in the season and the same unfortunately cannot be said about the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the former teams of one of the NFL’s greatest quarterbacks, Tom Brady.

However, Aaron Rodgers, another famed quarterback, was also agreeable with Brady, especially when it came to defense in the current league. He had shared via Pat McAfee Show, “If I’m looking at this from a real big picture, there’s a softening of society that has definitely caused things like this,”

“Hockey doesn’t have an enforcer position anymore. Why? Because we need the fighting out of hockey. It’s too violent.”

“I think people wanna see football be a collision sport. Not to where guys are getting mangled on the field but they enjoy the big hits. There’s certain players who you just knew were big hitters and pushed the line of what’s a cheap shot and what’s a legit hit.”
