Irate fans have been sending racist messages to Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson. He shared the messages on his Instagram account on Monday (via Bro Bible’s Dov Kleiman).

Kareem Jackson made headlines for his brutal hit on Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave in Week 7. Jackson’s shoulder hit Musgrave on the head during the Broncos’ 19-17 win at Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday. The hit enraged opposing fans and consequently blew up on social media.

The NFL suspended Kareem Jackson four games for the hit on Luke Musgrave on Monday. The Broncos safety will appeal the suspension.

NFL vice president of football operations Jon Runyan explained why the league suspended Kareem Jackson.

“On the play in question, you delivered a forceful blow to the head/neck area of a defenseless receiver, when you had the time and space to avoid such contact. You could have made contact with your opponent within the rules, yet you chose not to,” Runyan said.

This isn’t the first time Kareem Jackson has gotten attention for his vicious hits. Jackson’s hit on Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers’ head forced the latter to leave their season-opener early. The NFL consequently fined Jackson $15,000 for his actions.

The Denver safety struck again with a brutal hit to the head of Washington Commanders tight end Logan Thomas the following week. Thomas had to check into concussion protocol afterward.

Despite Jackson’s reputation as a vicious hitter, he doesn’t deserve racist messages on social media. That’s the sad reality nowadays – fans can easily spew their venom on players online.

For his part, Kareem Jackson should think twice about hitting another player on the head next time.

Messages

This is really awful and needs to end. #Broncos Safety Kareem Jackson received racist DMs after the #Packers game, using the n-word, he shared on Instagram. There is no excuse to speaking to another person like that, doesn’t matter if their athletes. They are people first and should be treated with basic decency and respect. It is *completely* unacceptable no matter what they did or how they played during the game. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen it this season but hopefully it will the last, fans need to stop doing these stuff immediately.

This is truly disgusting and shameful. After the #Eagles game, #Vikings RB Alexander Mattison was called the N-word, was told he should commit suicide and was told a number of other racist terms in his DMs by “fans”, he shared on Instagram. This is what some athletes face every week and hurtful and gross and wrong. Players are humans first, play football second, and these “fans” treat them them like anything but. Be respectful and show compassion in life. These type of messages are completely wrong.
