Burnley calculating the price of beating Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany believed his team had to pay price for their 1-0 Carabao Cup victory at Nottingham Forest because of the apparent catastrophic knee injury to Hjalmar Ekdal. Zeki Amdouni, substitute, scored last-second goal to settle rather forgettable match and guarantee Burnley third-round matchup against Salford. However, due to injuries, Vitinho, Aaron Ramsey, and Ekdal were all forced to leave the game; the latter was taken away on stretcher after goalmouth brawl in the second half. When questioned about the injuries to his teammates, Kompany responded, “One think will be bad. It appeared that way. I’ll take anything positive on that of course. “In terms of Viti (Vitinho), we hope he’s not too bad. Certainly, it cost us a little bit this game.

“According to what I have seen and the photos, it looks like the knees of both (Vinho and Ekdal).
There are varying degrees, maybe just stress, but for Ekdal we hope it’s not too serious.
He was in a lot of pain.
“I really hope he’s not too bad, but that game definitely took a toll.
Swiss striker Amdouni, signed from Basel in July, replaced Jay Rodriguez in the 78th minute and scored his first goal for English football in his third appearance for the Clarets.
Kompany added: “He’s a real threat to goal.
“Hopefully that’s one of the many things going on for him.
It’s an exciting thing about our team.
I’m not saying the first year you’re going to blow up the net every week.
“But in the future there is the possibility of a real goal threat in our team.
How long that will take, I don’t know.
Some guys are still dangerous on the field.
Neither team created notable scoring opportunities before Amdouni’s late intervention and Forest boss Steve Cooper said his team ‘got what they deserved’.
He say:
“We felt really bad about our performance, both individually and collectively and certainly with the ball.
“I didn’t anticipate we would give up goal. The score was 0-0, so the outcome was obvious. Obviously, the game wasn’t very good. Technically, today we were far from it. Midway through the second half, Brennan Johnson and Morgan Gibbs-White were introduced, but they failed to get Forest going.
Johnson has received lot of attention regarding transfer to Tottenham, but Cooper said it was not the reason the Wales forward began off the bench. He continued, “I know there’s lot of talk about him, but it’s not really affecting us right now. Until we hear otherwise, we’ll cope with it and carry on as usual.
