Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi has stated he got the all-clear from hospital doctors after the concerning head injury suffered against Aberdeen on Sunday.

Aberdeen defender Slobodan Rubezic whacked Kyogo full force in the side of the head with his forehead. It was a challenge some pundits called dangerous and out of control, while Brendan Rodgers described it as “nasty” in the aftermath.

It has already been confirmed by the Bhoys boss that Kyogo won’t be travelling to join up with the Japan squad. Thankfully it seems there will be no lasting ill effects beyond that.

Kyogo updates Celtic fans on social media

In a Japanese language Instagram Stories post, Kyogo said [Translated by Instagram]: “I don’t know for how many minutes, but I don’t remember any of my friends worrying about me or walking off the pitch by myself.

“I felt protected by the football gods when I was told I was fine in the hospital. I will continue to work hard for the future without forgetting to be grateful.”

It’s really not ideal that Kyogo doesn’t remember the immediate minutes after the incident. It suggests he had a concussion and those are never predictable in terms of seriousness or recovery time.

Kyogo will now be monitored well by the Celtic medical staff and he won’t be back out on the training pitch, or in matches, until he is fully able. You can’t be too careful with head injuries.

The Japanese sensation managed to score his eighth goal of the season before his substitution, consolidating his position as the club’s top scorer across all competitions.

He’ll be pushing towards the 20-goal mark and beyond once he’s back in the green and white hoops. Get well soon Kyogo!
