Ginnivan shock as Magpie requests Hawks move
In what emerged as a late twist on the penultimate day of the trade period, contracted Collingwood forward Jack Ginnivan is said to be seeking a trade to Hawthorn.
Despite Collingwood shutting down reports of trade interest in Ginnivan on Monday, the maligned Magpie is now said to be up for grabs, with the Hawks in the front seat.
A request from Ginnivan’s management is said to have been lodged just over 24 hours out from the trade deadline and a day after Collingwood added Lachie Schultz to their list.
DONE DEAL: Four-club deal sees Coffield and Dow find new homes
An agreement between St Kilda, Carlton, the Western Bulldogs and Essendon has seen 2017 top 10 draftees Nick Coffield and Paddy Dow move clubs.
Dow has joined the Saints from Carlton while the Saints have sent Coffield to the Bulldogs.
Essendon played a part in the deal to satisfy all clubs, managing to upgrade their draft hand in the process.
DONE DEAL: Demons add Crows forward
Adelaide has traded forward Shane McAdam to Melbourne in exchange for the Demons’ own future second-round selection.
McAdam’s move comes after a trade request was lodged last month to secure a move to Victoria, with the Demons his preferred landing spot.
The Crows had a strong interest in bringing in a player from Melbourne as part of the deal, but instead settled for a 2024 second-round selection.
Bomber back on trade radar
After being removed from the trade table on the opening day of the trade period, Essendon midfielder Dylan Shiel is still seen as gettable late into the exchange window.
Shiel had been linked to St Kilda as part of a second move that would’ve followed Jade Gresham’s free agency switch to the Bombers, but list manager Adrian Dodoro shut down Shiel’s potential exit last Monday.
While seen as a low chance, Shiel is still viewed as a potential trade target in the eyes of rival clubs.
Port still pushing for double ruck coup
Port Adelaide football boss Chris Davies remains confident his club will acquire both Jordon Sweet and Ivan Soldo ahead of this year’s trade period deadline.
The ruck duo have both flagged their intentions to head to Alberton, with Sweet hoping to return home after his contract with the Western Bulldogs reached its expiry this year.
Soldo is contracted and has been met with some resistance in a move from Richmond, however Davies is hopeful a trade can be reached.
Brisbane readying Ryan move outside of Gunston trade
The Lions are said to have tabled an offer to Hawthorn for Brandon Ryan in a deal that wouldn’t include wantaway Brisbane sharpshooter Jack Gunston.
Gunston has requested a trade back to Hawthorn 12 months on from his move to the Lions, with a return now in mind for the veteran forward.
Brisbane have shown an interest in Ryan following Gunston’s request, and could now look to lure the Mid-Season Draft selection in a separate deal.
Latest on likely Pick 1 trade plans
West Coast are expecting any deal that sees them part with Pick 1 to come after Wednesday’s trade period deadline.
Clubs are able to continue swapping draft picks from Monday in a separate designated pick swap window, where suitors for Pick 1 are set to rekindle their interest in the Eagles’ selection following a busy player movement space.
West Coast haven’t set a price on Pick 1, while the likes of North Melbourne, Hawthorn and Melbourne are all interested.
