Collingwood Football Club will bring its 2023 AFL premiership cup to Shepparton this Sunday, November 12, as part of a national tour.
The Magpies are taking the cup nationwide with photo opportunities for members and supporters in regional locations.
Shepparton and Euroa are among the first stops on the cup’s journey, which will originate out of the club’s AIA Vitality Centre, beginning with visits to Warrnambool and Ballarat on Saturday, followed by Shepparton and Euroa the following day.
The cup’s first stop Sunday will be Shepparton Football Club, the Bears’ home base at Deakin Reserve.
Later in the day, the cup will be transported to the home of another Magpie outfit as Euroa Football Club opens its doors for a viewing session.
The regional Victorian leg of the tour will conclude in Sale on Monday before heading interstate commencing the following week.
The Pies equalled Carlton and Essendon at the top of the AFL premiership tree in 2023, claiming their 16th flag and first since 2011 in a thrilling four-point grand final triumph over the Brisbane Lions.
The club has advertised that members of its current playing list will accompany the cup along its stops in the GV alongside former players, but specific identities have yet to be revealed.
Collingwood chief executive Craig Kelly ― whose son, key defender Will, was recently delisted by the club ― said in a statement that the Magpies’ aim was to bring the cup back to the club’s facilities adorned with the fingerprints of as many fans as possible ― the so-called 19th man.
The events in Shepparton and Euroa will be free of charge on Sunday.
