Leeds United have offered St Truiden defender Daiki Hashioka a contract lasting until 2028 amid interest in the Japan international, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The Belgian journalist reported via X on Sunday [28 January] that a deal has been agreed upon with St Truiden and Leeds had offered a four-a-half-year contract to beat Club Brugge and a host of Bundesliga clubs to his signature.

It was reported earlier on Sunday (28 January), as per David Van den Broeck, that talks between the two parties were “well advanced”, with the full-back keen on a move to Elland Road.

Hashioka could be the ideal replacement at full-back for Daniel Farke, with the club yet to fill the vacancy in the position left by Luke Ayling and Djed Spence.

Full-back is one of the lightest positions, in terms of squad depth, at Elland Road, especially with the likes of Sam Byram, Jamie Shackleton and Junior Firpo all suffering from injuries at different points in the season.

The Whites have been decimated in the right-back position this January after Tottenham’s surprise recall of Djed Spence with Luke Ayling leaving on loan for Middlesbrough for the remainder of the season.

With Daniel Farke short of options in the defence, Leeds have been on a search for a new permanent right-back, and it now appears that the Elland Road side have found their man.
