Dak Prescott Treatment ‘Unfair’? Dallas Cowboys Coach Mike McCarthy Reacts

FRISCO – Is the NFL world’s treatment of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott “unique”? No question.

Is it also “unfair”? Teammate Micah Parsons strongly believes that is so, and now Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is chiming in as well.

Appearing on Mad Dog Radio this week, McCarthy said that “the intensity of the microscope” that Dak gets placed under is essentially unprecedented.

“I love Dak Prescott as our quarterback,” McCarthy said. “I think the way he’s built all the way through, obviously his physical skill set is excellent. But what he endures mentally and emotionally compared to the other 31 (starting quarterbacks) is unique.

“Unique” meaning “unfair”? That is clearly what McCarthy is suggesting here.

“Speaking on experience of being around great quarterbacks, I’ve never seen a quarterback under a microscope like he is,” said McCarthy, who over his career has worked with QBs like Joe Montana, Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. “How he handles all that, and navigates all that, and he goes out and performs every week, I think it’s special what he has to endure.”

As Cowboys Nation (and Micah) might note as an example: It could be argued that this week there is more discussion about the mistakes (maybe) made by Dak in his team’s win at the Chargers than there is discussion about the three interceptions thrown by Jalen Hurts in the Eagles’ stunning loss to the Jets.
