Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was unhappy with Mike McCarthy’s game plan against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5. The Cowboys came into the game trying to avenge their Divisional Round loss to the 49ers in January

The Cowboys didn’t even come close to pretending they were in the same stratosphere as the 49ers on Sunday Night. The 49ers controlled the game and blew out the Cowboys 42-10.

The Cowboys started off the season 2-0 by blowing out the New York Giants and New York Jets in back-to-back weeks. They were considered to be one of the hottest NFL teams. But now the Cowboys dropped two of their last three games.

Jerry Jones unhappy with Dallas Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy’s plan

Jones didn’t seem pleased with the coaching staff following Sunday night’s loss. According to Clarence Hill Jr, Jones said the Cowboys needed to find a way to win the game.

Jones thought the offensive coaching staff made a mistake not spreading the 49ers defense out. He also thought the Cowboys should have featured more inside runs against the 49ers defense.

Jones called out McCarthy’s offense for poor preparation. The Cowboys only had 57 yards rushing in the blowout. They finished with 197 total offensive yards.

Yikes.

McCarthy didn’t have the offense ready to go Sunday night. McCarthy decided to call the Cowboys offense after their loss to the 49ers in the playoffs last season. The offense looks worse through the first five games into the season.

Jones can see the holes in McCarthy’s playcalling. He’s publicly calling the coach out for not having a good game plan in one of the biggest games of their regular season. McCarthy will have to find a way to get the offense and Dak Prescott back on track.

If he cannot, McCarthy will find himself back on the hot seat.
