As the NBA trade deadline gets closer, the Philadelphia 76ers are a team that is sure to pop up in a wide range of rumors. Armed with the assets acquired in the James Harden trade, Daryl Morey has ample pieces to upgrade the roster in the coming weeks. Before he was traded to the New York Knicks last weekend, OG Anunoby was a player closely connected to the Sixers. Some have wanted the team to target Pascal Siakam, but the rumor mill seems quiet on that front. Prior to their matchup with the Knicks Friday, the Sixers were connected to another former All-Star in the Eastern Conference.

While discussing the availability of Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray, Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes reported multiple teams are keeping tabs on him. He mentioned the Sixers as one of those teams but doesn’t feel Murray is one of their top targets.

“Teams that I’m hearing, sources have relayed to me, that teams that have reached out about him, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers are a few of the teams,” Haynes said. “I don’t think Philly, as it pertains to the Philadelphia 76ers, I don’t believe that Dejounte Murray is their No. 1 target.” Murray, 27, was a former All-Star and steals champion during his time with the San Antonio Spurs. He’s played in 33 games with the Atlanta Hawks this season and is averaging 20.6 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 5.2 APG. It’s also worth noting that Murray is shooting a career-high 38.3% from three on six attempts per game. Standing at 6-foot-5 with a 6-foot-10 wingspan, Murray is of the two-archetype that the Sixers are looking for. He’s averaging 1.5 steals per game and is a longer defender who could be put next to Tyrese Maxey in the backcourt.
